Magic Chairs
The Danish orchestral ensemble return with Magic Chairs, their third album and first on new home 4AD. Drafted in stolen moments on tour in cities stretching from Tel Aviv to Portland, the band returned to Denmark to record the album in early spring, capturing a much poppier sound than that showcased on previous efforts. Its a record that works on the synthesis between melody and intricacy, one that understands the importance of harmonies, drawing on music hundreds of years old in order to create something very much of the moment, something brittle and delicate and beautiful.
