  • Crybaby Free Instore

    Rise Bristol

Bristolian crooner Danny Coughlan aka Crybaby has his debut album hitting the shelves on April 9th and as well as already getting rave reviews. With nods towards Richard Hawley, Scott Walker and Roy Orbison plus song titles that would make Morrissey proud, Crybaby has created an album with so much atmosphere and passion that just one listen might leave you paddling in a sea of you own tears but one thing is for sure it will have you hooked.

'I Cherish The Heartbreak More Than The Love That I Lost' delves deep into the heart, and shows an out pouring of emotion following the drifting apart of lovers while 'We're Supposed To Be In Love' relays the struggle of a couple who desperately want to be together but just can't make it work. 'When The Lights Go Out' is a beautiful song that tackles the loss of a loved one and with lyrics as meaningful as "When the night was ours we were swinging in the stars/When the lights went out/She was burning bright as we said goodnight/Then the lights went out/Oh honey when the lights go out/Will I see you again", he really makes you feel every bit of heartache he has felt. 'Veils' is almost an ode to our fallen heroes and has a very different approach to the rest of the record; it is minimalistic on a musical platform and relies heavily on Danny's voice to hold the song up. He does this brilliantly and turns the song into an epic traditional feeling song that will stand the test of time.
Whether it is love lost or found, Crybaby can deliver a love song in a way that all of us can relate to as well as understand and with a vocal performance that many singer-songwriters would die for he has made a contender for album of the year in the most painful and powerful way possible.
