Penguin Cafe Orchestra

Broadcasting From Home

Remastered with new liner notes 'Broadcasting From Home' was the fourth album by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and was released in 1984 on EG Records The opening song was named after Penguin Cafe Orchestra leader Simon Jeffes found a discarded harmonium in an alleyway in Japan Penguin Cafe Orchestra possesses a folk sensibility translated through classical instrumentation a sort of late 20thc bartok The music is melodic rhythmic and repetitive but not in the minimalist school It never reaches a crescendo but nevertheless is a captivating blend of strings guitar and more obscure instruments
