Gram Parsons

GP

American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and pianist Gram Parsons has been credited as being the pioneer of ‘country-rock’, becoming an inspiration for artists such as Elvis Costello, Mick Jagger and Dwight Yoakam. Since his unfortunate death in 1973 he has been acknowledged as an extremely influential artist, and responsible for kick-starting the career of one of the world’s biggest country icons, his duet partner Emmylou Harris.

Gram Parsons’s debut solo album ‘GP’ allowed audiences to appreciate Gram’s incredible vocals and lyrical delivery. Released in 1973, ‘GP’ featured Elvis Presley's lead guitarist James Burton, and contained new songs from a creatively revitalised Parsons such as "Big Mouth Blues" and "Kiss the Children," as well as a cover of Tompall Glaser's "Streets of Baltimore".
